Reading is one of the secret pleasures in my life. I inherited this passion from my dad when I was very young and it is one of my greatest treasures. Growing up, my mom always told me that you could get to know someone better by meeting their friends. So, if you want to follow her advice, I invite you to meet some of my best friends: |

![]() Khaled Hosseini Books These two books are some of my all times favorites. Even though they are very similar, I like them both for different reasons. Books like these reassure my belief that we tend to avoid the things that we are afraid of. We are most likely afraid of the things that we don't know, the things we are unfamiliar with. But it is our responsibility to research and understand before making judgments about people, religions, countries, races and cultures. Books like these help us to be more conscious of our surroundings and open a window, allowing the much needed love and understanding among diverse and different people in the world. ![]() The Twilight Saga Yes I am such a girl and I am a Twilight fan too. I admire Stephanie Meyer storytelling skills. Who doesn't enjoy a sweet love story with a happy ending once in a while? I usually like to read books in the language that they were originally written, but I read these books in Spanish and it was a great experience. I suspect it was because some say that Spanish is the language of love. ![]() The Alchemist I feel that just like people who walk with you during a specific stage of life become significant, books also become special when they accompany you through a hardship, a turning point in your life or a moment of plenitude in your existence. This book came to me in a very emotional moment in my life. A time when I had to make important decisions and trust in my potential to continue on. It was a good adviser and a great source of encouragement and faith. ![]() |
Taylor Caldwell Historical Novels You are about to discover one of the darkest sides of my past. Believe it or not before starting college in the U.S. I went to law school in Mexico for three semesters, and from there comes my love for history and politics. My favorite kind of books are historical novels and Taylor Caldwell is one of my favorite authors. A Pillar of Iron is my favorite book written by her. I really appreciate the detail, the values portrayed and the excellent storytelling. ![]() Dale Carnegie
I am a huge fan of Dale Carnegie. I think that this is one of those books that everybody should read to improve their human relationships and live better. Personally, this has been one of the books that has had the greatest impact in my life in a meaningful way. My Dad definitely knew what he was doing when he gave it to me! ![]() The Hunger Games Trilogy I have to admit that I have never been a huge fan of fiction or futurism but these books got my attention. I think that you should never say "No" to something that you haven't tried or you might miss a lot in life. So, I read the first book, and then finished the trilogy in less than a week and Yes I am reading the Maze Runner books now... Lesson learned: Always try new things! ![]() Pensativa This was the first book that made me cry. It is a beautiful and sad novel, full of mysticism, tradition and melancholy set again the historical stage of the Cristero War in Mexico. The beautiful description of the places, the personalities and traditions of the characters combined with the braveness and integrity of Pensativa remind me a lot about my own life. |
